Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not accept any insurances at this time. I am considered an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies, which means I do not bill insurance or interact with insurances in any direct manner.
Many clients ask for what is called a “superbill” to advocate for reimbursement for their therapy sessions with their insurance. While many of my clients are able to receive out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance for therapy sessions with me, this is not a process that I play any direct part in outside of providing you with a receipt of services to give to insurance.
For more information on using your out of network benefits for therapy, click here. Many clients are also able to use their Health Savings Account to pay for sessions .
When do you schedule sessions?
I schedule appointments Monday - Thursday, between 8-5pm. I do not have weekend appointments or later evening time slots at this time. If you need a specific time, please note that in the contact form (linked here) or when you call to schedule your free 15-minute consultation. *Please note that listing your preferred times are not a guarantee that I will be able to accommodate this preference, and if I cannot accommodate your scheduling needs I will do my best to find you a referral that can.
What ages do you see?
I only work with adults, seeing ages 18+. I thoroughly enjoy working with young adults, but don’t begin working with them until after they’ve completed high school.
Do you do counseling for men?
I do my best work supporting people who are navigating a female experience. However, I have lots of wonderful colleagues who like to specifically work with men, and I would love to connect any prospective male clients with a clinician who does their best work with navigating a male experience of the world.
Do you work with couples?
I do not do couples therapy at this time, only individual counseling. However, addressing your relationship concerns in individual counseling often comes up in therapy sessions, and it can be extremely helpful to improving your life. It can also be helpful for partners to sometimes join our sessions to understand how to support you, but I like to remain clear that support work is not couples’ therapy.
How long are sessions?
Our first session (called an intake) is 60-minutes long; after that, appointments are usually around 50 minutes. The first appointment is a little longer so that we can begin to get to know each other and I can get a better idea of your situation than I can get in our 15-minute consultation call. For more of an idea of what to expect during sessions, click here.
Where do we have sessions?
At this time, I only provide services via online counseling. I am licensed to see anyone who is in the state of Washington while our session is taking place. If you are not a Washington resident I suggest searching PsychologyToday.com for therapists in your area.
I know some people can be skeptical about telehealth therapy, but studies show that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions. For me, I have watched clients benefit from increased convenience, being able to prioritize a good-fit and highly qualified therapist, regardless of where they’re located. All you have to do is click the session link and you can log in from any device. No commute, no parking, and therapy in the comfort of your own home!
