Postpartum & Perinatal Therapy

There is no time where a person experiences more change than when they become a parent. Especially for the person giving birth — your body has changed, you have lost a lot of the autonomy that you had before, and don’t even get me started on how hormones can wreak havoc on your mental health.

Your world has been turned upside down (in the absolute best way), and it’s normal for that huge amount of change to take a toll on you. You might feel:

  • a huge amount of pressure to “get things right”

  • obsess over not messing things up

  • feel drained and disconnected

  • a lot of fear around accidentally hurting this tiny little human

  • like you’ve unlocked a whole new level of rage that you didn’t know existed before.

  • the process of bringing baby into the world was scary, unexpected, or even life-threatening, and you’re feeling stuck replaying these memories.

And these things don’t always just start after baby arrives. As therapists, we consider the entire perinatal period (working to become pregnant all the way through postpartum) as important to consideration with taking care of your mental health and symptoms.

If any of these sound like you, you are not alone. I would love to help you figure out how to move forward. Reach out today.
