Somatic Therapy

Our modern world is focused so much on doing — working, taking care of family, chores, social time, physical movement, tending to our basic needs, commuting, the list goes on — that sometimes our brain can get disconnected from our bodies and we lose sight of all the emotions happening, as well as the toll that all the busy-ness takes on our physical self.

Being disconnected from your body can cause a lot of issues in our daily lives and functioning, some of which include:

  • Feeling exhausted and fatigued often

  • Increased irritability and “blow ups”

  • Mental “spirals” and rumination

  • Feeling anxious and “on edge” often

  • Not understanding why you do certain behaviors

  • Acting without thinking

  • Burnout

When we’re able to understand what’s happening in our bodies better we end up being able to make more intentional decisions, practice regulating uncomfortable emotions, feel more centered and confident in our lives and relationships, and build a stronger sense of understanding who we are. Some of the most powerful healing begins when we connect into our selves and look at the whole picture of our wellbeing.
